Community water quality policy for the nineties
European Community water policy has been evolving over the last fifteen years. The most common form of legal instrument employed is the directive. These can be divided into three types, quality objectives, sectorial and dangerous substances. At a Ministerial Seminar in Frankfurt, six key areas were identified for future Community action. These are the ecological quality of surface waters, wastewater treatment, dangerous substances, diffuse sources, water resources and integration with other policies.
