Abstract

For more than ten years, the BCR Programme has supported collaborative projects whereby laboratories of the Member States were given the opportunity to improve their methods of measurement. Activities were developed in applied metrology and chemical analysis. This brochure reviews the projects of the period from 1983 to 1987. Each project concerns a particular measurement problem, the study of which is jointly tackled by the competent laboratories, until the cause of discrepances is identified and eliminated. Many projects concerned written standards or Community directives. The programme has addressed the measurement problems of greatest importance to industry whether for advanced technologies, food, environmental or biomedical purposes or traditional areas such as thermal conductivity. It complements the process of standardisation and harmonisation throughout the Community.
