Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The papers presented at the round-table meeting of 21 December 1988 cover work on the behaviour of individual coal constituents in hydrogenation, the hydropyrolysis of low-temperature coal tar fractions and the behaviour of organically-bound sulphur during coal pyrolysis. Two papers describe the behaviour of pitch binders in coking and in the production of carbon electrodes respectively, and a third deals with the analysis of pitch. Two further papers on carbonization are concerned with the development of a mathematical model of the coking process and the influence of zinc chloride additions. The final report discusses the behaviour of certain coal mineral matter components during combustion.
