Abstract

Reported here are 237Np, 121Sb and 125Te Mössbauer measurements in NpSb(1-x)Te(x) solid solutions at 4.2K. The data provide useful information on the electronic structure, local moment, type of magnetic ordering and nature of the magnetic interactions. In 237Np the spectra of the samples with x less than 0.15 were well represented, with a single site experiencing combined magnetic and quadrupolar interactions. For higher values of x up to 0.25, it was found necessary to allow hyperfine field and quadrupolar spreads (linearly correlated) owing to local environment effects. The 121Sb and 125Te spectra could be well fitted with a pure single magnetic interaction.
