Abstract

Robinson's viscoplastic model has been implemented into ABAQUS using the user sub-routine UMAT. For the time integration, the generalised midpoint rule has been applied. The solution of the nonlinear system of algebraic equations arising from time discretisation of the constitutive equations is determined using a projection method in combination with Newton's method. The tangent moduli are calculated consistently with the applied integration algorithm. The efficiency of the algorithm is demonstrated discussing various numerical examples, e.g. a transient thermal load case and the problem of stationary crack in a creeping solid.
