As the Italian Building Code does not include fire safety in prestressed beams, the prefabrication industry cannot make experimental tests on high load beams in furnaces. A prediction of fire endurance is needed. A developed analytical model has obtained the approval of the Control Institute, whilst waiting for a preprint of the new code for fire resistance developed by Unification National Institute, Milan. The model chosen is a thermo-mechanical analysis of fire response. Prediction of fire endurance of prestressed concrete beams in non-linear materials is achieved by a finite element method, using ABAQUS.
