Mapping of less favoured areas and marginal land within the EEC by means of remote sensing
The Collaborative Program for the Less Favoured Areas is a network of different application orientated research projects of approximately 25 participating national institutions and laboratories under the management of the Joint Research Centre in Ispra. It is orientated towards the application of Remote Sensing in marginal regions of the European Communities. The program identifies and develops the use of second generation earth observation satellites for collection and mapping of information relevant to land use planning. A special effort is given to the integration of end-users at governmental, regional and local level.
