The paper presents studies of the non detection probabilities of attribute mode sampling plans for diversion strategies, other than those for which the plan is explicity designed. The verification sample size approaches currently employed by safeguards authorities are considered and also approaches which take account of the capacity of gross measurements to detect partial defects. The paper presents graphs of computed non detection probabilities as a function of diversion strategy and of the error behaviour of the inspector measurement system. The different approaches are compared.
