Performance assessment of geological isolation systems for radioactive waste disposal in salt formations
This report describes the radiological impact of disposal of vitrifed HLW in rock salt formations. Data are presented on the possible rock formations, their overlying geosphere and geohistory. Conceivable release scenarios are discussed. Modelling procedures take account of transport calculations, canister corrosion, matrix degradation, boreholes, the repository, the overburden and the biosphere as well as subrosion and human intrusion scenarios. The results of deterministic and probabilistic calculations are presented, including local and global sensitivity analyses.
