Abstract

This report contains papers presented at a conference on controlled fusion and plasma physics in March 1989. Runaway electron dynamics and confinement in TORE-SUPRA are described and a possible explanation for the runaway energy limit presented. Other studies concern plasma surface interactions, magnetic field structure and transport, thermal equilibrium of the edge plasma, neutral confinement, fast ions losses, microtearing turbulence and the toroidal coupling of tearing modes. Ergodic divertor experiments and current profile control by electron cyclotron and lower-hybrid waves are reported. Further papers present work on fast ion dynamics, LH waves, the detailed structure of the q-profile and various forms of turbulence.
