The analytical efforts in fast breeder reactor safety concentrate on the deterministic prediction of low probability whole-core accident scenarios and the possible propagation of local or subassembly faults. The European Accident Code 2 (EAC-2), which is still under development, will be an advanced tool mainly for whole-core accident analysis. In the first part of this paper an overview of the status of EAC-2 is given and a recalculation of the WAC/LOF benchmark problem is discussed. In the second part of the paper, a pre-test analysis of the upcoming MOL7-C/7 local fault in-pile experiment is presented. Such experiment analyses are needed for the further validation of EAC-2 models.
