Refinery flue gas desulphurisation plant by the Ispra Mark 13A processFunded under: JRC-ENVPROT 4C
A new regenerative wet scrubbing process for flue gas desulphurisation, Ispra Mark 13A, is presented. The process produces two useful products, sulphuric acid and hydrogen. Process flow schemes and process principles are discussed. A demonstration plant of the process has been built and since December 1988 is in operation at the SARAS Refinery at Sarroch (Sardinia). The plant treats 32 000 Nm3/h of flue gas produced by the combustion of a mixture of heavy fuel oil and refinery gas.
