Optimization of a steady state tokamak driven by lower hybrid waves
Experimental results from many tokamaks suggest steady state operation may be feasible with the plasma current driven by lower hybrid waves (LHW). This is expected to increase reactor reliability and availability. A steady state device such as MET/ITER driven by LHW is considered. The power multiplication factor Q is an essential parameter. The optimum plasma characteristics for maximising Q under the restriction of LHW penetration limitations are determined.
