Abstract

Measurements have been made of the heat capacity of a sample of high purity protactinium metal over the temperature range 6-300K. The results indicate that the low temperature electronic coefficient is 6.6 +- 2 mJ/mol.K2 and the Debye temperature is 195 +- 10K. At 298K the heat capacity is 28.2 +- 0.4 mJ/mol.K and the entropy 51.6 +- 0.8 J/mol.K. No evidence is seen of the anomaly at 98-103K previously reported in electrical resistance measurements.
