Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

ECDIN (Environmental Chemical Data and Information Network) is a database organised on a European scale by the Joint Research Centre of the CEC based at Ispra. The running and further development of the database is part of the research programme of the CEC. The database provides support for workers involved in control of the environment and gives reliable information on chemical products. It brings together a wide range of facts on chemical compounds effectively produced and used commercially in appreciable quantities, independently of their risk as it is known at present. ECDIN deals with a broad spectrum of parameters and properties in order to help the user to evaluate the real or potential risks associated with the use of a product and its economic and ecological effects. ECDIN contains details of more than 60,000 compounds. It is linked with EINECS and includes all the compounds of the European Core Inventory and the Compendium of Known Substances.
