Local and systematic osteosarcomas by alpha- and beta-emitting bone-seekers
The paratibial injection of alpha- and beta-emitting radiocolloids in mice resulted in the induction of local and systemic osteosarcomas, whereby the highest yield of local osteosarcomas was reached with 144Ce. Beta-radiocolloids caused only local osteosarcomas. The two alpha-radionuclides caused both local and systemic osteosarcomas probably due to their soluble decay products.
