Late effects after incorporation of the short-lived alpha-emitter 224Ra - Part I- experimental data with single and protracted doses
Late effects after 224Ra-incorporation were followed up in a series of mouse experiments. A protraction effect with a time factor <1 persisted for mean skeletal doses down to 0.9 Gy (at this value not more significant). At 0.15 Gy the protracted group showed an earlier induction of lymphomas and a later occurrence of osteosarcomas compared to that of the single injected group.
