Abstract

Methods of reducing the retention of surfactants used in enhanced oil-recovery processes by chemical means have been studied in three directions. The first is the inhibition of adsorbing properties of rocks by increasing the pH in the formulation. The others are the use of a desorbing agent to return the adsorbed surfactants to a solution and a study of the relation between surfactant adsorbability and structure.
