European Community Wind Energy Conference : Proceedings of a Conference held at Herning Congress Centre, Denmark 6-10 June 1988Funded under: FP1-ENNONUC 3C
This report contains the proceedings of the wind energy conference held in Denmark in 1988. The keynote paper deals with the conditions for large scale penetration by wind farms of the utilities, especially in the European generating systems. Recent technical developments have achieved a reduction of 50% in machine costs and operating experience has shown that wind turbine generation is a reliable energy source. The fall in the cost of fossil fuels, particularly imported coal, has delayed the economic break-even for wind farms. Topics covered by presented papers include prototype development and experimentation, resource assessment, aerodynamics, modelling and fatigue, decentralised wind energy systems and the market potential of wind farms.
