The objective of this research was to develop an advanced heat transformer to recover waste heat from industrial plants for both ecological and economic reasons. The use of new working fluids enables higher feedback temperatures to be reached (>150 C). The design of the heat transformer and the absorption heat pumps are considered separately and in combination. In trials of the part plants, the defined targets were reached and even exceeded. The inter-connected plants were then installed and successfully commissioned. The working fluid pair TFE-Pyr and MeOH-PEGDME were tested in the pilot plant and proved suitable for the heat transformer. However, the use of TFE-DTG in the absorption heat pump revealed some peculiarities.
