Abstract

The orographic configuration, the climate and the high traffic emission are basic elements leading to pollution accumulation and conversion in particular meteorological conditions in the Greater Athens Area. In the frame of a collaboration between the JRC Ispra and the Greek Ministry of Environment, a monitoring survey in the G.A.A. took place in September 1987. Measurements acquired by a specially equipped mobile unit allowed a mapping of pollutants' distribution. These data were related to measurements gathered by the ground-fixed stations and to the meteorological conditions dominant during that period.
