Corrosion of a CeO(2) surface modified alloy 800H in a sulphidizing/oxidizing/carburizing environment under mechanical and thermal cycling
The influence of stress and temperature cycling during creep deformation on the corrosion behaviour of CeO(2) surface modified pre-oxidised Alloy 800H in a simulated coal gasification atmosphere at 700 C is studied. It is shown that stress cycling further enhances the grain boundary attack compared to continuous deformation. Temperature cycling additionally causes oxide scale delamination and leads to significant pit-like corrosive attack.
