The study has two main objectives: to make new ion conductors based on polymers which have increased conductivity, a high cation transport number and good plastic properties; and to provide rechargeable generators with lithium anode and solid electrolyte, using electrolytes which were common before the study and the new materials perfected during it. The results obtained demonstrate that rechargeable generators with solid polymeric electrolyte can be made to operate correctly for over 100 cycles at 50 C. The composite cathodes used have a capacitance per unit volume of nearly 200/Ah/litre and can cycle up to 1 mAh/cm2 at some tens of microamps/cm2. A new composite solid electrolyte, which has all the electrochemical properties of glass without its disadvantages, has also been perfected, while a new elastomeric copolymer with very important ionic conduction properties has been synthesised.
