Improvement in mine planning through ascertaining expected stratification conditions from adjacent developments
This computer aided project involved correlation methods based on artificial intelligence procedures. It demonstrated that these methods work more or less satisfactorily according to the recording quality, particularly if manually preset allocation lines are also used, in situations where there are various parallelising possibilities. The "PARALL" program system, developed as a pioneering process by Bergbau-Forschung GmbH of Essen and dependent on a mainframe computer, fulfilled its set targets. Although it has greater distinguishing capacity, it can only be upgraded to a certain extent since it cannot separate the knowledge base from the problem solving component. The more flexible program system "MATCH", which was developed on a PC and has a separate knowledge base, is a system which can be improved and further developed in respect of interactive procedures and the like.
