Demonstration of the MCNP simulation of PHONID-3B
PHONID measurements in the active and passive interrogation mode were simulated with the Monte Carlo method (using the MCNP-code) to investigate the physical performance of the instrument. First results of these simulations with respect to the neutronic behaviour of PHONID are presented. The final aim of this project is the optimisation of the instrument by sensitivity studies, generation of its calibration curves and evaluation of its use as assistance in inspection campaigns.
