Abstract

Six metrology laboratories compared their measurement facilities in the field of high-current transformer calibration. The circulated transformer could be operated at primary currents up to 10 000 A with the two secondary currents of 5 A and 1 A. The errors at the nominal transformation ratios 10 000/5 (2000/1), 5000/1 and 10 000/1 had to be determined with a burden of 0.4 Ohm +- 3%. The primary currents applied were 5%, 10%, 20%, 50%, 100%, 120%, 150% and 200% of the rated primary currents at the frequency 50 Hz +- 0.5%. The current errors and the phase displacements had to be measured according to the IEC standard 185 (1966). The agreement between the results of the different laboratories was within +- 4 x 1.0 E-5.
