Extensions and changes to program "REVIEW" for real-time scene change detection in video images
This paper describes the extensions and changes to the interactive, menu-driven program REVIEW for a PC-based computer vision system. The original program was conceived for the detection of scene changes in real-time sequences of video images and is based on the cross-correlation of polylines. Version 2.0 of the program contains a wobble correction module which can be used to correct for vertical or horizontal image instabilities caused by film cameras or recorders. Moreover, a new scene match detection mode was added to cope with image sequences in which many safeguard-irrelevant activities take place. Finally, some changes were made to improve the user interface of program REVIEW. This paper was written as an extension to the original, technical report EUR 11677 EN, which should be referred to for a complete description of the program REVIEW, its principles, its menus and its applications.
