This report addresses the problem of high-temperature long term properties of Type 304 and 316 austenitic stainless steels used for LMFBR components. In particular, it investigates whether or not the onset of tertiary creep is the governing parameter with respect to the stress rupture strength, for the determination of the allowable stress defined in design codes. Some 850 creep test results were collected and analysed on British and French Type 316 steels and German Type 304 steel.
