Development and experimental validation of a method to investigate the coupling between a geochemical model and a transport model for elements in solution
The subject of this work is the modelling of the transfer of elements which are chemically sensitive to the geological medium. The aim is to substitute a description of geochemical phenomena for empirical laws in the study of the global partition of an element between the aqueous and the solid phase. Difficulties of interpretation arise in several of the eleven experiments which have been carried out. To overcome these difficulties, additional experiments and chemical analyses were performed. Improvements in procedure are suggested for the heating experiments and for the chemical analysis of water samples. It appears from this study that the approach based on validation of a coupled code linked with through-flow experiments requires several iterations, of which this work is only the first stage.
