Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

It is widely held that there are disorders whose incidence can be reduced substantially by the direct intervention of health service programmes. This book considers possible targets for such programmes within Western Europe and evaluates the likely results of such intervention in the next decade. Section I considers the primary prevention of infectious diseases and non-infectious disorders. Section II considers the effects of screening to eliminate childhood morbidity, while Section III is devoted to preventable fetal and infant loss. Finally Section IV considers screening to reduce morbidity and mortality from cancer.
