Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This report contains the proceedings of the final contractors' meeting in the research area `Technical Ceramics' held in Brussels, 9-11 December 1986. Their physical and chemical properties make technical ceramics well suited for use in high function products, where metals and organic high polymers are inadequate. Consequently, the use of these new materials is considered to have large growth potential. The purpose of the research described in this book, which relates to a series of R&D activities in the Raw Materials Sector over a period of three years, was to obtain better quality technical ceramics for structural elements exposed to severe environmental conditions. The programme themes included the optimisation of powder processing technology, the development of new ceramic products and the enhancement of the fabrication cycle for various ceramic materials.
