Abstract

The nonlinear drift wave equation is modelled with the Korteweg equation. This equation is transformed into canonical form with a hamiltonian interpretable as an energy. This allows exact calculation of the partition function according to previous results in solid-state physics. The procedure seems to afford some hope for investigating general systems by means of Clebsch potentials.
