COMMUNITY DEMONSTRATION PROJECT - GEOTHERMAL WELL AT FARSOE-1, DK
The purpose of the Farso well was to encounter and investigate water bearing sands of sufficient temperature and flow potential to provide heat capacity for the community of Farso. As a result of an extensive exploration program the drilling did encounter sands within the Gassum formation of sufficient quality that further production testing was warranted. Cores were taken of the Haldager and Gassum sands (two 18 meter cores in each zone). No abnormal pressure, excessive gas or lost returns were encountered during drilling, however, a water sensitive shale within the pay interval did result in one sidetrack. The progress of the sidetrack was uneventful primarily due to addition of asphalt to the basic completion mud. An open hole logging program of the Gassum was not possible due to instability of the water sensitive shales. However, a sonic log was obtained in the original hole to a depth of 2867 meters (midway through the pay).
