Abstract

The RANGE programme makes it possible to rank the various candidate technologies, i.e. those technologies that comprise a RD & D phase and other new technologies that have already reached the commercialization phase. This programme highlights the variation in the objective function when the capacity varies by approximately one unit, according to whether or not the technology penetrates the market. The Annexe gives the detailed ranking of the various technologies for the four cases taken into consideration. In the nuclear moratorium case the most important changes are a better ranking of fluidized bed boilers in district heating and centralized electricity production. Most solar technologies and the wind turbines have the lowest rank.
