Résumé

This report covers the geothermal exploration of a well in Montpellier in the Departement of Herault in France, carried out by the Bureau de Recherches Geologiques et Minieres. Its objectives were the assessment of the geothermal potential of the Jurassic limestone reservoir in the area of Montpellier, and the possible application to the heating of 700 to 800 dwellings of the Val de Croze district. The drilling rig used by Boniface Freres, Lunel, was Foraco SM70 and Foraco Hydro 72, over a period from August to September 1981, reaching a depth of 700 m. The results indicate a reservoir at a depth of 286 m at the top, and TD at the bottom, in limestones of Mid Jurassic Age, with a water level of 23.13 m b.g.l., and a well head temperature of 27.8 degrees C. Additional observations are that acidizing could significantly boost well productivity.
