Abstract

The way in which this study on software was designed and its conclusions were presented, was largely determined by the two-fold objective of analysing developments in software and in the software industry in order to come up with recommendations for Community actions in the field and to present analyses and extract recommendations serving as examples to support the project: "The potential of new information technologies for job creation" of which this study was one of the five specific studies (phase 2 below). The project on the potential of new information technologies for job creation has included three phases: Phase 1: Analysis of technological and socio-economic data and construction of scenarios Phase 2: Five specific studies: - the equipment of the house of the future - the audio-visual entertainment industry - continued education - the microcomputer Phase 3: Synthesis and Conclusion
