INTRODUCTION TO THEORY OF RF PLASMA HEATING AND CURRENT DRIVE
The following aspects of the theory of plasma heating + current drive are given: 1. Macroscopic conservation theorems 2. Wave - Particle resonant interactions (containing sections on single particle aspects, a qualitative description and quantitative analysis of Velocity Space Aspects). 3. Wave propagation in non-uniform plasmas - here the main properties of wave propagation in a magnetically confined and thus radically stratified medium are briefly discussed. 4. Resonance frequency - energy flow and accessibility, (some of the res. frequencies do not coincide with any of the eigenfrequencies Wcs of the unperturbed single particle motion). 5. A ponderomotive effect in LH current drive, and lastly 6. A relatavistic effect for arbitrarily low speed.
