Abstract

Our objective was to examine the role of runaways using a model that includes the effects of pitch angle scattering. To accomplish this goal, we obtained a numerical solution of the two dimensional Fokker-Planck equation. The inductive electric field is included in addition to the quasilinear diffusion that results from deposition of incident wave energy.
