Abstract

This report consists of three parts: 1) a review paper on "Plasma equilibrium evolution at the resistive diffusion time scale" presented at the 2**nd European Workshop on "Computational Problems in the Calculation of MHD equilibria" (Wildhaus - Sept - 1983) and which will be published in Computer Physics Reports. This paper describes the purpose of such a code, the mathematical formulation of the problem and the numerical methods. It compares the methods used in the SCED code to those used in other existing evolutionary equilibrium codes. 2)a summary of the model developed in the SCED code for JET simulations. It contains in particular the JET poloidal field circuit equations and the main hypotheses on the plasma transport model. 3) a description of the results of five test cases: fast and slow current rise phases, flat top configuration, additional heating phase and vertical plasma motions.
