Abstract

This book contains two guides, one on portability of Ada programs and one on Ada programming style. These guides were produced by the Ada-Europe Portability Working Group, set up in December 1980 under the chairmanship of John Nissen. Meetings of the Ada-Europe working groups are partially funded by the Commission of the European Communities. The Commission has supported the publication of the guides. An early version of the Portability Guide was published as an NPL report, and we are grateful for NPL's permission to publish a revised version in this book. The Portability guide, after a general introduction, discussions on lexical elements, declarations and types, names and expressions, statements, subprograms, packages, visibility rules, tasks, program structure and compilation issues, exceptions, generic units, presentation clauses and implementation dependent features, and on input output. The style guide presents considerations of the same topics.
