Abstract

The preconceptual design is presented of a Tokamak reactor with an hybrid toroidal magnet, which can fulfill INTOR-NET objectives with smaller size (R-o = 4.5 m, a = 1 m) and cost, operating at B-o = 6.1 T. Useful ignition margins can be gained by increasing B-o up to 8 T with still an acceptable power consumption in copper toroidal coils.
