Abstract

The presentation deals with the typical role of reference materials besides other ways of analytical quality control like standardized methods, intercomparisons etc. Attention will be given to the demands to be posed to reference materials. Especially homogeneity and accuracy will be highlighted. Examples are taken from recent work in the certification of major components and trace metals in skim milk powders.
