Abstract

This report is an appendix to report EUR 9051 EN (see 22/108). Two new springs have been studied, one at Meelin, Co. Cork and the other at Gneevgullia, Co. Kerry. At the two main spring complexes the physical parameters (temperature, discharge, conductivity and pH) have been monitored weekly and the chemical parameters monitored monthly. Reconnaissance surveys were also carried out in the areas surrounding the two main springs, in order to build up a picture of the local groundwater discharge. It seems that the Gneevgullia area looks promising for exploitation. The discharge temperature is 16-17 degrees C and the area is ideal for greenhouse cultures.
