Abstract

CAMAC is a modular data handling system in widespread use with on-line digital computers and microprocessors. Volume 1 of EUR 8500 defines the mechanical and electrical standards of CAMAC equipment. This second volume contains five further specifications. Three are concerned with software for use with CAMAC systems, defining general principles and two implementations, as an extension of the BASIC language and as subroutines for use with FORTRAN. One covers the transmission of blocks of data, and is relevant to both hardware and software. Finally, one is a new specification of a compatible extension to the CAMCA equipment standards defined in Volume 1 (see 2l/864).
