THE SEVESO ACCIDENT
This paper has been prepared as a contribution to the Ispra Course which considers the ""response to large accidental releases of radioactivity and other pollutants"". Therefore it is not a comprehensive review of the Seveso accident, but highlights some relevant aspects. It particularly considers the chemistry involved, the emergency phase, the regional government response to the environmental reclamation, the consequences for human health and the issue of communications. A few closing considerations are also given.
