INVESTIGATION OF LONG WAVELENGTH DENSITY FLUCTUATIONS IN TOSCA TOKAMAK BY CW CO-2 LASER PROBE
Envelopes of the oscillations induced on the profile of a gaussian CW CO-2 laser beam by its passage through the TOSCA plasma confirm theory (1), and curve fitting allows us to infer density fluctuation intensity for wavelengths up to several cm's. Dominant modes are transverse to beta-phi; they have relative intensity n'-e of a few percent, frequency maximum <= 100 kHz, and wavelength relative to ion gyroradius rho-i such that alpha rho-i +- 1.
