THE BEHAVIOUR OF AISI AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL AT HIGH RATES OF STRAIN
AISI 316L and 316H in as-received conditions have been submitted to uniaxial tensile tests at strain rates ranging between 10**-2 and 10**3 S**-1, at temperatures of 20 degrees C, 300 degrees C, 400 degrees C, 55O degrees C. Among other phenomena reduction of ductility and dynamic hardening have been observed. Dynamic softening has been observed on AISI 316L in welded and irradiated conditions, tested at 550 degrees C. Some strain rate jump tests have been performed and analyzed in order to observe the effect of strain and strain rate history. The experimental results were used for the calibration of existing constitutive relationships (PERZYNA, BODNER) which could be implemented in calculation codes.
