Abstract

The research actions of the Commission of the E.C. in the area of LOCA and Special Transients related Thermohydraulics are split into the Direct Action and the Cost Shared Action Programmes. The first one is exclusively executed by the J.R.C. of the Commission and in this particular case by the Heat Transfer Division of the Ispra Establishment. The main activities performed during the last approximately 15 years together with some results are summarized. More emphasis is given to the description of the LOBI Project work and results, in view of the objectives of the Workshop for which this paper was prepared. The Cost Shared Action Programme is executed in the framework of research contracts placed with national organizations and/or laboratories. This programme is complementary to national and J.R.C. programmes and deals with specific research areas. It was started in 1979 for a running period of 4 years; a new programme has been proposed for the period 1984 - 1987, but has still to be approved. Both programmes are briefly described.
