Topics on safety aspects of fusion which are dealt with at Ispra JRC include: - Activation and afterheat - Chemical reactivity of liquid breeders - Mechanistic studies of accidents - Tritium interactions with structural and breeding materials - Some experimental and theoretical studies on tritium fuel cycle - Environmental effects of tritium Future developments concern the continuation of the previous topics, moreover: - Risk assessment methodologies - Simulation experiments of some typical accidents - Maintenance and accidental conditions of activated tritium contaminated components.
