EVALUATION OF SOME NATURAL LANGUAGE PARSING METHODS BASED UPON GENERAL CRITERIA AND THREE SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GREEK LANGUAGE
Some methods of natural language parsing (Augmented Transition Networks, Definite Clause grammars and context + free grammars) are evaluated for three special aspects of the modern Greek language: high inflectionality, free word order and increased context sensitivity After having considered some general criteria for natural language systems, a comparison of the methods is made and some conclusions are drawn about which of them corresponds more closely to the criteria set.
